Model House Prototype

The model house represents an in-house initiative within Riley Projects, geared towards transforming architectural services into marketable products. Crafted to suit a standard Los Angeles lot, this house follows a grid-based design, allowing effortless adaptation to different layouts while also providing a framework for spatial arrangement. My contribution to this project involved designing floor plans concepts in collaboration with the studio principal, developing the Revit model/ entourage and producing Enscape renders, and developing the sample layout pages for the finishes and fixtures catalogue.

Each floor plan element is conceived as a modular set based on a 4ft x 4ft grid system – utilizing standard predesigned “room blocks”, while also enabling the house to remain versatile and easily adaptable to forthcoming purposes and lifestyles. This enables users to quickly personalize their house, but use standard predefined elements – which, in turn, allows for a quicker design and construction process.

Some overarching themes that guided the design development process was focus on low carbon footprint, natural materials for better health of occupants and multi-functional delightful spaces for better living.

Along with standardized floor plan blocks, project featured curated finishes and fixtures catalogue that homeowners could use to select their designs from for easy and stress free experience. Using predesigned packages provided opportunities for competitive pricing with strategic partnerships with manufacturers, shortened lead times, and streamlined installation process.
